Could you be our next chair person?

Being part of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride isn’t just about making a difference, it’s a powerful movement. Come and join the team!

As the largest LGBTQ+ event in Wiltshire, our role is to educate, raise awareness and break down barriers. We work to eliminate all forms of discrimination against the LGBTQ+ communities by celebrating and supporting LGBTQ+ lives. We’re also proud to be supporting our local charities and good causes.

Pride is a vibrant charity, run by volunteers from the community. As well as our Pride Supporters, a team of dedicated people volunteer year-round to help the day-to-day running of the charity and deliver our calendar of exciting awareness events and fundraisers.

The role of the chairperson is currently vacant, and so an exciting opportunity has arisen.

You will have the unique opportunity to lead the team, hold the flag, influence the community, and bring your vision of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride to life as we stride into the future together. The Chairperson has a strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of the organization. The Chairperson ensures that the Board of Directors functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.

Main Responsibilities: 1. Plan the agenda and chair the committee meetings. 2. Ensure that the Pride event is run within Health & Safety Constraints. 3. Work with Vice-chair and Treasurer to plan financial budget. 4. Attend the Trustee's meetings and report back. 5. Attend stakeholder and ESAG meetings as necessary. 6. Support the Managers and committee; seek opportunities and delegate. 7. Ensure the necessary legal documentation is prepared and submitted for Pride. 8. Attend external meetings with other committee members as required.

9. Support other roles when necessary. 10. Be a cheque signature on the account.

Volunteers are not required to have previous training, and anyone can volunteer. Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is committed to equal opportunity, as well as encouraging people from marginalized and minority backgrounds to apply so that they can ensure better representation of all groups of people.
